We offer affordable services for a variety of neurologic and musculoskeletal conditions, with 1-on-1 customized physical therapy in-clinic or telehealth therapy via our secure Zoom platform.

Gaze stabilization exercises are a great entry point to vestibular rehab. BUT if your therapist doesn't progress it, it loses it's effectiveness. Real life (driving, walking, shopping, etc) is extremely challenging on your sensory systems and it's our job to help you get these systems running well together.

There are too many people on the internet who bash certain exercises because they "aren't functional". These people are also usually trying to sell you their own product as an alternative. If an exercise helps you feel better, get stronger, or achieve movement during the day that sounds very functional and you should continue to do that. We need to stop optimizing with overly specific exercises when we should just be encouraging a more active lifestyle.

This is one of our most common pieces of advice. There are a lot of factors that affect healing, pain, dizziness, and other body functions. Some of them you can't control: weather, traffic, other people, time. We encourage our clients to prioritize what they can control: intention of activities, resting when needed, your mental response when things flare up. By taking control of the modifiable variables, you will greatly improve your rehab outcomes!

Common signs that someone may be having a stroke:
Sudden change in balance or coordination
Vision loss, blurry or double vision
Facial drooping or numbness on one side
Weakness or numbness in one arm
Slurred speech or unable to speak

Another non-exhaustive list of management strategies for neurologic hypertonicity. Unwanted tonic movements are a huge barrier to movement and exercise for people who have neurologic conditions and injuries and there is an immense lack of information available for treatment.

Hypertonicity (commonly referred to as "tone") is a very common side effect of central nervous system lesions or dysfunction. it involves excessive, involuntary muscle activity at rest and can become problematic when using the affected limb for functional tasks.

There is absolutely a time and place for 3 sets of 10 of a very low resistance band. The problem is that those times are very limited and this is not an appropriate exercise prescription for most people! Find healthcare providers who challenge you and progress your exercises.
